For Bereaved
Losing someone you love suddenly to cardiac arrest can be especially shocking and painful.
About half a million people in the U.S. die of cardiac arrest annually. Our Post Cardiac Arrest Service cares for patients who have had a cardiac arrest, supports families, and assists them through their experience. This webpage contains some information for those who have lost loved ones to cardiac arrest. We understand that grief affects many of our families and, therefore, have compiled some bereavement resources that may be helpful in this journey.
GRIEF IS:
Grief is a dynamic process that involves many different emotions and experiences. We grieve because we have loved. Sometimes people compare grief to a roller coaster or waves of the ocean. It is a natural and deeply personal response to loss that is holistic in nature. Grief touches our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual parts of who we are. Each person's relationship with the deceased is unique, and their grief journey will vary widely.
SUPPORT:
As you walk the road of grief, it is important to find and keep helpful support, and reach out if you need more.
