Mission
Our mission is to optimize outcomes for current and future cardiac arrest patients and their families in the region and throughout the world by educating providers and the public and transforming resuscitation science.
We actively support community partners and prehospital providers to improve emergency cardiac arrest response and immediate interventions, developing and maintaining systems for cardiac arrest and post-arrest care.
We meet patients with return of spontaneous circulation on arrival to the emergency department to guide their early resuscitation and risk stratification.
We continue to follow patients daily through their early post-arrest critical care, when we work to identify and treat reversible etiologies of arrest, and to guide prognostication and resulting treatment decisions.
As patients transition from this early phase through later hospitalization, post-acute rehabilitation and survivorship, we identify needs for secondary prevention, perform detailed neurocognitive and psychosocial evaluations, and provide structured follow-up assessments to identify and correct problems through at least the first year of survivorship and recovery.
